Buildings designed for the stabling of horses need to meet a number of requirements. The main criteria is that they must provide sufficient space for each horse to move around comfortably. 

They should also be well ventilated so that there is good air quality, ideally stables should include windows, vents or fans to keep air flowing effectively. 

Natural light is another key factor; however, additional artificial light can also be used, particularly during the winter months.
